Laura Anna (Root) Carlisle, born 22 Mar 1849, Piqua, OH, and d 4 Nov 1922 in Hopkins Co KY, was the daughter of Joel A. Root & Sarah E. Couch.

Laura Anna Root married William Edwin Carlisle 18 Nov 1869 in Shawneeton, IL. They lived in Hopkins and Webster Counties in Kentucky and they were the parents of Grover Cleveland, Evie Adaline, William Miller, Mary, Forest Elmo, Joel Milby and Erskine Sawyer Carlisle, Marilyn's grandfather.
