Thomas Kearney Rice family        Thomas Kearney Rice family

This family portrait was taken about 1907, judging from the ages of the people in it. Seated in the lower left are Thomas Kearney Rice (1853-1934) and his wife Minnie Florence (Sammons) Rice (1861-1943).

Their home at this time was the white frame dwelling across the road from the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lisman. They now rest in the cemetery at the church.

Seated next to Kearney Rice are his daughter-in-law Mrs. Laura (Winter) Rice and his son William Hampton Rice (1879-1954). Laura is holding their daughter Marie (b. c.1905 in St. Louis). This marriage ended in divorce a few years later, and William remarried. (Laura, being Catholic, did not.) Standing in the rear in the photo are Effie Dell Rice (1881-1959), Mary Frances Rice (1898-1988), Guy Whit Rice (1890-1966), Otho Barbee Rice (1893-1982), Daisy Dean Rice (1884-1950), and Thomas Herman Rice (1882-1945). All of the children of Thomas Kearney and Minnie Florence Rice married. Five of them have living descendants. These descendants are now scattered across the South and as far west as California and Alaska.
