Will P. and Virgie Hall

Will Phonso Hall, 1873-1952, was the son of Logan Monroe Hall, 1845-1919, and Eudora A. Timmons, 1855-1926.

He married Virgie Hancock, 1883-1976, the daughter of William Lewis Hancock, 1855-1932, and Sarah Jane Branson, 1861-1910, 24 Dec 1902.

Will P. Hall is the grandson of John Timmons and Sarah Hancock.

In Louise Fleming's book Heyday of Onton, p 283, there is an article about Will P. Hall that was written by his children, Hazel Oakley, Dan Hall and Dora Jane Hall. This is a partial quote from that article: "He and his brother Logan Hall and other friends went west in 1901 and worked in the lumber camps near Tacoma, Washington for about a year. When he returned home in 1902, he married Virgie Hancock. They were the parents of six children: Bessie Lee, deceased at one year; Hazel; Ilyene and Lila Dean, who both drowned in a tragic accident in 1929; Dandridge; and Dora Jane. "Mr. Will" was a teacher; he had attended the Poole Institute, which was equivilent to today's colleges. He received his first teacher's county certificate in 1895. In 1919 he received his Life Certificate for teaching in the common schools of Kentucky. On his return to Onton in 1902 he resumed teaching at Sassafras Grove School and taught for thirty-some years at Sassafras, Dunville, Parker, Groves Chapel and Onton schools. In 1923 he moved his family to Sebree and he was a bookkeeper for a tobacco factory for two years." Will P. Hall's obituary can be read online.
