Wilson-Oakley: The marriage of Miss Mavis E. Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Wilson, Princeton, to James S. Oakley, younger son of Mrs. Della Oakley, Covert Avenue, took place at 4 o'clock last Sunday afternoon at the home of the bride. It was a candlelight ceremony, with the Rev. A.L. Emmert, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating before an improvised altar of palms, ferns and garden flowers. Miss L. Velma Wilson, sister of the bride, and Harry R. Buck of Buckskin were the only attendants. A program of nuptial music was played by Miss Margaret Birmingham, pianist, Miss Dorothy Oakley, sister of the bridegroom, a violinist, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hudson, vocalists. The numbers included "Because," "At Dawning," and for the processional, the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin." The bride wore a floor length gown of white silk net, fashioned with a double net skirt, draped bodice, and short sleeves formed by shirred medallions. She carried cream roses and blue delphinium and wore a coronet of white rosebuds. For "something old" she wore a yellow gold bracelet belonging to Mrs. J.L. McDonald. Miss Velma Wilson's dress was of pink mousselaine de soie, trimmed with aqua grosgrain ribbon and fashioned in empire style with shirred puff sleeves. She carried pink roses and blue delphinium. An informal reception followed the ceremony. The tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom centered the bride's table. The couple left later for an eastern honeymoon and will reside at 314 Reis Avenue. The bride traveled in a blue and white sorelcheck ensemble with white pique collar and cuffs. The bride is a graduate of Princeton High School and Lockyear's Business College and is bookkeeper for Gus E. L. Hosse. The bridegroom is employed by the Crown Potteries company. Out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Gus E. L. Hosse, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Bright, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Warner, Mrs. Ray Roettger, Mrs. Della Oakley and daughter, Dorothy all of Evansville; Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Trippett, Columbus, O., and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Black, Oakland City. |
