James Curry Wallace & Amanda Price

After a long search, Carolyn Chilton recently came into possession of this old tintype photograph of her great-grandparents.
Amanda Price was the daughter of James Price and Mary Lavinia Early; she was born 1 June 1827 in Kentucky
James Curry Wallace was born 8 March 1822 in Union County, Kentucky.
James and Amanda married 7 August 1841 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.
James died 6 May 1864 during the Civil War in a skirmish at Morganfield, Kentucky (see article) and is buried at Granny's Hill Cemetery near Wheatcroft. Amanda died 10 October 1888 in Union County. She is buried at Rock Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Wheatcroft. Nine known children were born to this marriage.

Carolyn says the photo was rusted and in horrible condition; so she took it to a photo restorer to see

if anything could be done with it. She was told the photo would never be perfect, but it could be restored to a reasonable representation of its original image. Carolyn is overjoyed with the results of the restoration.
Carolyn says tintypes were made between 1858-1910, so this one was made between 1858 and 1864 when James Curry Wallace was killed.
