to Sarah Elizabeth Hobgood, daughter of Oliver Clay and Cordelia
Ann Crowley. Sarah was born 12 May 1932 near Bremen,
Muhlenburg Co Kentucky and died 27 Jan 1997 in Coles Co Illinois.
James and Sarah
had four children. They divorced 5 Jul 1955.

James was also married to Bernice Dunham, Viola Peggy Cordell, Frances Darlene Peterson, Bobby Jean Bashan and Louise Hockett (dates unknown).
Sarah later married John Alexander Nickell, 29 May 1958, and Richard Horath, 1982.
