Individual note:   Henderson Co Court Order Book D, Feb 1833: Ordered that Sarah Marks, the widow of John Marks (III), dec'd., be summoned to appear here at the next April term of this court and shew cause if any she can, why her four youngest children, Isaiah, George, James and Sarah Marks shall not be bound out according to law.

Henderson Co Court Order Book D, Nov 1834: Ordered that the Clerk of this County bind George Marks, orphan of John Marks (III) to Henry Dixon Jr to learn the art, trade or business of a tanner, until the said George attains the age of 21 years, he being now 14 years of age on the 8th day of Dec 1834. That an indenture be drawn with the terms and conditions prescribed by law.

In 1860 Henderson Co census, age 39, with wife Matilda, age 25; no children listed.

Individual note:   James Marks was bound out at age 15 to John H. Lambert to learn the business of a blacksmith. Bound until age 21. Henderson Co court order book D, October court 1840.

Henderson marriages: James Marks, age 30, single, born VA & lives Henderson Co to Elizabeth Click, age 21, single; born Bullitt County & lives Henderson County. 31 Dec 1855.

1860 Webster census, p 22; he is a blacksmith. George Click, an apprentice is living with the family.

1870 Henderson census, p 195; he is a blacksmith. He and Elizabeth and their family are living with Joseph Crenshaw, 61, born VA and his wife Sarah A., 51.

1880 Henderson Co census, p 379; he is a blacksmith living in the Robards District. Both his parents born VA

Old Ashby Church Cem is located abt 1/4 mi east of Providence Church in Hopkins Co. Hopkins Co Cemeteries, Vol III, p 65.
