Note for:   Rachel Rankin,   ABT 1800 - BEF 1830         Index
Individual note:   Some say Rachel Rankin Marks died before 1830, when Isaiah married Celia Olive. Another source gives her death date as 17 Dec 1867 in Webster Co KY, which is the death date of Isaiah's second wife, Selah.

Rachel, by terms of her grandfather's will, inherited 150 acres of land from John's 1,000 acre survey in Henderson Co in 1821. Isaiah and Rachel sold that land to cousin Martin & Mary Overfield in 1823.

The daughter Melvina born 1842 is a puzzle as I don't find mention of her again after the 1850 census. It is possible she is the same person as the Rosa b 1843 mentioned in the 1860 census. And the daughter Malinda born 1849 is also a puzzle; she is not mentioned except in the 1870 census. I don't find a marriage for any of these names.

Note for:   Samuel Marks,   ABT 1790 - JAN 1846         Index
Individual note:   He is named in his father's will of 1819.

John Littleton was the minister at their marriage.

Samuel Marks died intestate and no one applied for administration of hisestate. (Was his wife dead?) Eli Melton, John Poole, Williamson Crews and John Whitledge were appointed appraisers. Henderson Co KY Court Order Book E; Jancourt 1846.

This is probably the Samuel Marks who was appraiser for the estate of Wm.Crowley in 1828 Henderson Co KY. Other appraisers werre: Charles Cottingham and John Overfield.

Samuel Marks is probably buried in Marks Cemetery but there is no marker.
