Minnie Ida Marks was the daughter of William Lee Marks and Martha Ann Tompkins.

Minnie Ida married Garland Cates, the son of Richard Cates and Jane Anderson, 31 May 1899 Webster County. Garland Cates died in 1924 and is buried at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Webster County.
