Webster County, Kentucky

Nancy A. Fraser
1852 - 1925

Rev. D. L. Fraser
1861 - 1947

Rev. David LaFayette Fraser was the son of Michael Thomas "Miles" Fraser, 1818-1888, and Sarah Ann Todd, 1828-1914, who were married 13 May 1843 Hopkins County KY.

Nancy A. Oglesby was the daughter of Stephen Decatur Oglesby and Louise Betty Knight, both of whom are buried in this cemetery.

Nancy A. Oglesby was married first to William A. Crowley, who died in 1878, seven years after their marriage. They had two daughters who are buried in this cemetery, Irene D. Crowley, and Mary Della Bridwell; and daughter Cassandra Crowley Chapman is buried at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.

Nancy and Rev. D. L. Fraser married 13 Nov 1884 Webster County; they had two daughters, Nellie May Fraser, Sarah Louise Fraser Magnuson, and one son, the Fraser Infant who is buried next to them.

Both David and Nancy were natives of Webster County although fifteen years of their married life were spent in Indiana while David was engaged in pastoral work at various charges; when his health failed they went to the western part of Nebraska where the high altitude soon restored him. Resuming his ministerial duties the family located there, and that is where each of them died.

While reading through the old marriage records, you will notice Rev. D. L. Fraser married many Webster County couples, especially those who lived in the Ortiz area of the county, which is where Mt. Lebanon Church is located. He must have had a wonderful sense of humor, as he would sometimes write in the location section of the marriage certificate "Lover's Paradise".

You can read D.L. Fraser's 1947 obituary at the Webster County Message Board.

Condition report May 2004: Amy Dunn reports this stone is in bad shape and unfortunately it is only a matter of time before it will split in two.
