Members of his family gave me his dates as 1843 - 1916. Since it appears the stone was erected many years after his death, these dates are inconsistent. Even though the stone appears to be newer than some in this section, the stone is cracked and the tip is broken off. We now have seen the 1916 death record of John Wesley Melton and he died in 1916; you can see it online.

A son, Robert Melton, b 4 Feb 1887, d 17 Sep 1911, is listed in the 1911 Webster County death records as being buried at Mt. Lebanon, although we have not found a stone for him there. See transcribed record here. Back to Robert Melton's cemetery listing
