David "Doc" Sparks was the son of Pleasant Sparks and Arramintha Grayson. Mae Osborn was the daughter of William Henry Clay Osborn and Elizabeth Poole. David and Mae married 18 Dec 1867 Webster County and they became the parents of six children.
