Hamilton P. Shelton was the son of Josiah Cyrus Shelton and Elizabeth Mary Orran.
He married Rosannah Grayson 9 Oct 1845 Henderson Co KY and they became the parents of nine children.

Among their children buried in this cemetery are: Elijah D. Shelton and his wife Queen Isabel Crowley, Marshall O. Shelton and his wife Martha A. Burton, Charles B. Shelton, Mary Louise King and her husband Tom King, and John Shelby Newton, the husband of their daughter Lettice J. Shelton.
