My Crouch FamilyThe first ancestor I have found so far is William Crouch, born Between 1829-1833 in England. The year of 1833 was on that sheet of paper that I was given, but on the 1870 census for Massac County, Illinois, the age he gave puts his year of birth as 1829. On that same census, he gives his place of birth as England. But when he came over or what port he entered I haven't found yet. On 03 February 1853 he married Mary Crockett in Obion County, Tennessee. It is claimed that Mary Crockett's father was John Crockett, brother of David Crockett. I haven't found proof of that yet. In 1855 William and Mary Crouch had a male child they named William Felix. I haven't found yet where they were living at that time. William Felix died at six months old. I haven't found any proof of another child until 30 March 1859 when their second son was born, who I am descendant of. Like a lot of other families of that time, he was also named William, but he was given a different middle name. I have found references of a middle initial of H. and N. By this time the family was living in McCracken County, Kentucky. They had two more children born to William and Mary Crouch before moving to Massac County, Illinois. In Massac County, Illinois, they had three more children, the youngest died at 11 years old. William Crouch died on 16 January 1876. There is not a death certificate for this death as Massac County didn't start keeping death certificates until 1878. Supposedly he is buried in New Liberty, but whether this is the name of city or the name of the cemetery I haven't been able to verify yet. Take a few moments to view the surnames, names index or the generation reports of William Crouch. If you see a connection, please contact me! |
