Kentucky Land Grants, Book 11, p. 499: John BARTLETT, 200 acres. Military Warrant No. 321, for services in Virginia State Cavalry. Land surveyed on Pitmans Creek Aug 12, 1797. John BARTLETT was honorably discharged from service Apr 12, 1783.
"Doomsday Book of the Conquest of Kentucky" in possession of the Clerk of Fayette County, Kentucky court—also called "Certificate Books" Virginia Land Commission, 1779-1780 gives:
Certificate Book, Pages 212 and 213:
"James BARTLETT by William BARTLETT this day claimed a pre-emption to a tract of land in the District of Kentucky on account of working and improving the same in the year 1776, lying at a sinking spring about one mile south of the Trough Spring on Green Creek water of Kentucky to include his Improvement—satisfactory proof being made in the court, they are of the opinion that the said BARTLETT has a right to a preemption of 1,000 acres of land to include the above location and that a Certificate be issued accordingly."
"John BANKS by William BARTLETT this day claimed a pre-emption of 1,000 acres of land, at the state price, in the District of Kentucky, on account of marking and improving the same in the year 1776, lying on the North Fork of Green Creek, adjoining the land of James BARTLETT, to include his improvement – satisfactory proof being made to the court, they are of the opinion that the said Banks has a right to pre-empt 1,000 acres of land to include the above location and that a Certificate be issued accordingly."
Franklin County was formed in 1795 from Woodford, Shelby and Mercer Counties. In 1798 Gallatin was formed from Franklin and Shelby Counties. In 1799 a portion was removed from Gallatin County, in 1819 a portion went to the formation of Owen County, and in 1827 a portion was taken for the formation of Anderson County.

Anthony BARTLETT of Henry Co., KY to John GRIMES, for 50 acres of land lying on the Ohio river that John GRIMES now lives on, have sold to said GRIMES a tract of land in County of ______ State of Ohio on waters of Paint Creek, containing 1,000 acres exception 16-1/2 acres which is cut off at one of the corners by another line, it being the same tract that said BARTLETT purchased of Capt. Robert YANCEY and obtained by said YANCEY for his services in the late war and known by the number 2530 [No. 2530] for which the said BARTLETT obliges himself and heirs to make a good title to said GRIMES. The persons appointed to view the road from Colo NEWELs Ferry to intersect STONERs Ferry road near Isaac WESTs made their report here into court which is ordered to be recorded and it is further ordered that the same be established, The persons through whose land the same is viewed consenting thereto, ordered that the said road be laid off into two precincts, viz, beginning at EDGEMANs Ferry, thence to Joshua BARTLETs on Cedar Sinking thence down the same as far as a direct line passing between THOMPSONs and NORTONs will stike Colo. NEWELs Ferry shall compose the upper precinct, Nicholas MERCER overseer of the said precinct. The other precinct to come down as low as Stoners Ferry road and to include all on this of Meadow Creek, Jacob VANHOZER overseer overseer thereof Isaac WEST, Nicholas MERCER, Samuel HINDS and James GHOLSON or any three of them they to appoint others.
