Jefferson Co., Kentucky Deed Book 6, page 172 This indenture made this 13th day of January 1802 between Lewis HOLLINGSWORTH as Deputy for Moses KUYKENDALL esquire Sheriff of Jefferson County in the state of Kentucky of the one part and Peter Bruson ORMSBY of Jefferson County and same state of the other part Witnesseth: Whereas the 12th day December 1801 a writ of execution styled a "fendention exponas" (?) in the words and figures following (was delivered to said HOLLINGSWORTH) The Commonwealth of Kentucky to the Sheriff of Jefferson County, greeting: we command you to expose to sale that estate of Frederick BARTLETT late Sheriff of said county to the value of thirty three pounds 14/9 current money with its peradventure interest per annum thereon from the 11th Feby 1802 till paid also five dollars twenty seven and one half cents which according to our command you have taken into your hands and which remains in your hands unsold as you have certified to the Justices of our Court of Quarter Sessions for Jefferson County to satisfy William POPE & Co the said sum of £33-14-9 with the interest and cost aforesaid Whereof in which being advertised was sold on the premises according to law to the said Peter B. ORMSBY for the sum of one hundred dollars specie current money he being the highest bidder. Now therefor this indenture Witnesseth that the said HOLLINGSWORTH for and in consideration of the said sum of money to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath as deputy sheriff as aforesaid granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Peter B. ORMSBY his heirs and assigns forever all the right title interest and estate of him the said Frederick in and to the said lot of land and dwelling house with all the appentenances.
To have and to hold the same unto the same Peter B. ORMSBY his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use benefit and behoof forever. In Witness whereof the said Louis HOLLINGSWORTH deputy sheriff as aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and seal on the day and year first written.
Certified to the justices of our Court of Quarter Sessions for Jefferson County to satisfy William POPE & Co. the said sum of £33-14-9 with the interest and costs aforesaid. Whereof in our said Court the have recovered execution against the said BARTLETT by virture of a judgement in our said Court and you have the same before the Justices of our said Court at the Courthouse in Louisville on the 9th day of January next to render to the said Pope & Co. their debt interest and costs aforesaid and have then there the writ. Witness Worden POPE Clerk of our said Court at the Courthouse aforesaid the 9th day of Decr.1801 and in the 10th year of the commonwealth. Worden POPE "Endorsed". Note no security shall be taken. Teste Worden POPE JC and whereas the property subject to the said execution was the Defts1 house and lot in Jefferson (alias dictus Bruners)? Town and numbered on the plan thereof by the No 18 (eighteen ) being the same House and Lot in and on which said BARTLETT dwelt and now dwells which being advertised was sold on the premises according to law to the said Peter B. ORMSBY for the sum of one hundred dollars specie current money he being the highest bidder.
