Jefferson County Kentucky Deed Book AA, pp. 249-250 This indenture made and entered into this eighth day of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between George P. BARTLETT and Francis his wife of the County of Jefferson of the one part and Deborah BOHANNON of the County of Oldham and State of Kentucky of the other part witnesseth that the said George P. BARTLETT and Francis his wife for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and sixty seven dollars in hand paid by the said D. BOHANNON the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sold aliened enfeoffed confirmed and delivered and by these presents doth bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, confirm convey and deliver unto the said D. BOHANNON a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being on the waters of Floyds fork of Salt river in the County of Jefferson and State of Kentucky containing by survey eighty acres two roods and twenty nine poles be the same more or less being part of the tract of land formerly held by James BARTLETT and bounded as follows vis Beginning at two white oaks on or near DAVENPORTs line and thence running with said line S. 70 E. 127 poles to two sugartrees and white oak corner to DAVENPORTs survey, thence south 20 W. 77 poles to a sugartree, thence S 86 W 118 [poles] to two white oaks and a black oak, thence with the road N. 16 E. 52 ½ poles to a stone, thence N 32 W 24.5 poles to a stone, thence N 20 E to the beginning to have and to hold the said tract of land and premises hereby conveyed and every part & parcel thereof unto her the said D. BOHANNON her heirs and assigns forever in fee absolute and unconditional fee simple to her only proper use and behoof and the said Geo P. BARTLETT and Francis his wife do for themselves their heirs executors or administrators agree to and with the said D. BOHANNON her heirs &c that they the said George P. BARTLETT and Francis his wife will warrant and forever defend the title to the said land hereby conveyed and all and singular its appurtenances unto the said Deborah her heirs and assigns against the right, title, claim, and demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In tesimony whereof the said George P. BARTLETT and Francis his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals on the day and date above written.
Signed, sealed and delivered in I Worden POPE clerk of the County Court of Jefferson County in the State of Kentucky do certify that the foregoing deed from George P. BARTLETT and Frances his wife to Deborah BOHANNON was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said BARTLETT and wife to be their act and deed that I examined the said Frances privily and apart from her said husband and having shewn and explained the said deed to her she declared that she had signed, sealed, acknowledged and delivered the said deed as and for her act and deed of her own free will and consent, without the treats persuasion or compulsion of her said husband that she was willing the said deed should be recorded and did not wish to retract her said acknowledgements and that I have recorded the said deed in my said office; witness my hand this eighth day of November eighteen hundred and twenty eight.
