DEED OF CONVEYANCE
JAMES BARTLETT to GEORGE BARTLETT

This indenture made this twenty third day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty three between James BARTLETT of the County of Shelby & Catharine his wife of the one part and George BARTLETT of the County of Jefferson of the other witnesseth that the said James BARTLETT & Catharine his wife for and in consideraton of the sum of one dollar in hand paid by the said George BARTLETT the rec’t whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sold, aliened enfeoffed confirmed and delivered, and by these presents doth bargain sell alien enfeoff confirm convey and deliver unto the said George BARTLETT a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being on the waters of Floyds fork of Salt River in the County of Jefferson and state of Kentucky containing by survey eighty nine acres three roods and thirty seven poles be the same more or less being part of the tract of land now held by the said James BARTLETT & bounded as follows Vis Beginning at a large white oak corner to KANISTER and HARBOURT in DAVENPORT’s line running thence with said line S 70 E 125 poles to two sugar trees and a white oak corner to DAVENPORT, thence S 20 W 75 poles to a sugar tree, thence S 86 W 139 poles to two white oaks & a black oak, thence N 76 W 63 poles to two hickories and a beech in a line of James FORSYTHE’s heirs, thence N 20 E 11 poles to a poplar in said line, thence S 70 E 41 poles to an iron wood & red bud, thence N 20 E 129 poles to the beginning to have and to hold the said tract of land and premises hereby conveyed and every part and parcel thereof unto him the said George BARTLETT his heirs and assigns forever in free absolute and unconditional fee simple to his only proper use and behoof and the said James BARTLETT and Catharine his wife do for themselves their heirs executors & administrators agree to & with the said George BARTLETT his heirs that the the said James and Catharine will warrant and forever defend the title to the said land hereby conveyed and all and every part and parcel thereof unto the said George his heirs &c against the right, title claim and demand of all and every person & persons whatever. In testimony whereof the said James BARTLETT and Catharine his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals on the day and date of this indenture as above written.

I the clerk of the County Court of Jefferson County in the state of Kentucky do certify that on this day James BARTLETT came personally before me in my office and acknowledged and delivered the foregoing deed to be his act and deed, and desired it to be recorded, and is recorded, in my said office. Witness my hand this 19th day of August one thousand eight hundred and twenty three.
