Shelby Co., KY Deed Book L, p. 363 This indenture made this 16th day of February 1814 between Charles LYNCH of the County of Shelby and State of Kentucky of the one part and James BARTLETT of the County of Jefferson and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that whereas Lewis CRAIG in or about the year 1798 sold to the said James BARTLETT about one hundred eight and one fourth acres of land on Long run a branch of Floyds fork in the said County of Shelby it being part of a seven thousand acre tract surveyed and patented in the name of Edward HERNDEN and whereas the said CRAIG had received a deed for the whole of said land from the said HERNDEN and afterwards the same to the said Charles LYNCH and the said LYNCH was to convey to all that had purchased of the said CRAIG in consideration wherof the said Charles LYNCH doth hereby convey the same 108 1/4 acres of land to the said James BARTLETT his heirs and assigns forever which said 108 1/4 acres of land is bounded as follows, to wit - Beginning at two beeches in a line of CLEVELAND, thence East one hundred and seventeen and one fourth poles to a hicory and beech corner to Anthony KIKE, thence north 159 poles to a beech ash and sugartree, thence west 90 poles to a beech and sugartree, thence south 42 west 42 poles to a large beech, thence south 133 poles to the beginning containing 108 1/4 acres of land to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said James BARTLETThis heirs and assigns forever to their only proper use and behoof and the said Charles LYNCH and his heirs doth convenant with the said James BARTLETT and his heirs the said land against the claim of himself and his heirs and all persons claiming under him or them and will forever warrant and defend in witness whereof the said Charles LYNCH hath set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written in the presence of
