Shelby Co., KY Deed Book L, pp. 369-370 This indenture made this fourteenth day of March in the year of our lord one hundred fourteen between James BARTLETT and Rachael his wife of the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky of the one part and Catsby [Catsley?] YOUNG of the County of Shelby and state aforesaid of the other witnesseth that the said James BARTLETT and wife for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted and sold by these presents do grant bargain sell, alien and confirm unto the said Catsby [Catsley?] YOUNG his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Shelby and state aforesaid on the waters of Long run patented in the name of HERNDEN #### the tract whereon the said Young now lives Beginning ########### on a line Marcena CLEAVELAND, thence east 117 1/4 poles to a hicory and beech corner to Anthony KIRK, thence north 159 poles to a beech ash and sugartree, thence west 90 poles to a beech and sugartree, thence south 42 west 42 poles to a large beech, thence south 133 poles to the beginning containing one hundred eight acres and a quarter, to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Catsby [Catsley?] YOUNG his heirs and assigns forever to his their only proper use and behoof and the said James BARTLETT and wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators and assigns, the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Catsby [Catsley?] YOUNG his his [sic] heirs and assigns forever, against the claims of them the said James BARTLETT and wife their heirs executors administrators and assigns and against the claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend, in witness whereof the said James BARTLETT and wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above written.
