JAMES BARTLETT to SAMUEL WILLIAMS

This indenture made & entered into this 8th day of August 1819 between James BARTLETT & Rachael his wife of the County of Jefferson & State of Kentucky of the one part & Sam’l WILLIAMS of the County of Shelby & state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said James BARTLETT & Rachael his wife for & in consideration of the sum of three hundred & six dollars in hand paid by the said Samuel WILLIAMS the receipt whereof is acknowledged by the said James BARTLETT & Rachael his wife for & in consideration of the said sum of $306 the said James BARTLETT & Rachel his wife hath bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Samuel WILLIAMS his heirs &c forever all that certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the said County of Shelby on the waters of Floyds fork including the residence of the said Samuel WILLIAMS containing 102 acres be the same more or less it being part of a 750 acre tract granted to William BARTLETT by pattent bearing date the      day of      & bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at Samuel ELLISes corner a sugartree & hickory in the divission line of BARTLETTs & CRANEs original tracts, thence with said divission line S 70 degrees W 110 poles to a poplar sugartree & beech corner to said William BARTLETTs 750 acre tract & James CRANEs original tract of 250 acres in William HABDYs original line, now the lines of Charles ELLIS & Wilson MADDOX, N 21 ½ degrees W 148 poles to a stone in said MADDOXes line & corner to a tract in the name of the heirs of Joseph ELLIS & with a line of the same N 70 degrees E 110 poles to a beech corner to the said Samuel ELLIS, thence with his line S 21 ½ degrees E 150 poles to the beginning to have & to hold the said bargained & sold land with its appurtenances unto the said Sam’l WILLIAMS his heirs &c forever to their only proper use & behoof & the said James BARTLETT & Rachel his wife doth covenant with the said Sam’l WILLIAMS & his heirs the said tract of land against the claim of themselves & their heirs & all manner of persons whatever &c & will warrant & forever defend in witness whereof they have hereto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & date first written.

Shelby County Court office March 30th 1820. This indenture was this day produced to me in my office & was proven to be the act & deed of the parties thereto by the oath of James ALLEN & on the first of April the same was fully proven by the oath of William TAYLOR whereupon the same was duly recorded.
