DEED OF CONVEYANCE
JOHN BARTLETT to CLEMENT POWERS

This indenture made this 22d day of November 1813 by and between John BARTLETT & Susahna his wife of the one part and Clement POWERS of the other part of Jefferson Cty. witnesseth that the said John BARTLETT & Susahna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand paid hath and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said C. POWERS & his heirs -?- one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being situated in the County of Shelby & State of Kentucky on Cain Run and bounded as follows to wit- Beginning at a sugartree corner to Joseph ELLIS formerly Frederick BARTLETTs and with ELLISes line N 68 deg twenty minutes East 248 poles to two beeches corner to said ELLIS in Stephen ALLENs line and with the same No.21 ½ W 68 poles to the road leading from TAYLORs mill to Frankfort and with the said road No. 64 W 52 po. No. 86 W 110 poles to two beeches on the north side of said road in the old patent line and also in John BERRYs line and with the same South 68 degrees and thirty minutes W 115 poles to two beeches original corner to William BARTLETTs 750 acre tract and William HALIDYs 1000 acre survey and with a line of the same So. 21 deg & 30 minutes E 150 poles to the beginning containing two hundred and five acres it being a part of William BARTLETTs 750 acre survey with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances unto the said C. POWERS & his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use and behoof forever and the said John BARTLETT and Susahna his wife covenant & agree to and with C. POWERS & his heirs and assigns the he the said BARTLETT and Susahna his wife have all power & lawful authority to sell and convey the same to the said Powers and his assigns forever and that ############ of a good sure and perfect estate in fee simple of and unto the same and that he the said BARTLETT & his heirs Exec’s & Adm’s shall warrant and forever defend the same to the said C. POWERS & his heirs -?- against all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming or to claim the same in witness wherof the said John BARTLETT and Susahna his wife hath hereto set their hands & seals the day and year first written.

This day the within named John BARTLETT & Susahna his wife came in their proper persons before me as Deputy for Worden POPE Clk of the County Court of said county and acknowledged & delivered the within indenture of bargain of sale as and for their act & deed and the said Susahna being examined by me as the law directs relinquished her dower of in and to the land within conveyed given under my hand the day and date above mentioned.
