Jefferson County Kentucky Deed Book 10, p. 189. This indenture made this twenty third day of November in the year eighteen hundred and twelve between Thomas PICKETT and Susannah his wife of the County of Clark and State of Kentucky of the one part and James BARTLETT of the county of Jefferson and state af’sd of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas PICKETT and Susannah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and sixty two pounds current money of the state aforesaid to them the said Thomas PICKETT and Susannah in hand paid or secured to be paid have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto him the said James BARTLETT his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being on Floyds fork and its waters in the County of Jefferson and state aforesaid containing three hundred and eighty five acres be the same more or less, part of the land conveyed to said Thomas PICKETT by John PICKETT Sen. & conveyed to said John PICKETT Sen. by Charles LEWIS of Virginia in the County of Caroline and bounded as follows viz. Beginning at a beech ash and elm corner to James COCHRAN in the original line then with the original line south twenty degrees west eighty poles to a hickory corner to John PICKETT, thence with his line north seventy west three hundred and sixty four poles to Floyds fork then intersecting the division line between Charles and John LEWIS, thence with the same north twenty degrees east eighty eight poles to four beeches, thence north seventy west four poles to two beeches, thence north twenty east one hundred and thirty two poles to a stake in Joseph JONES original line, thence with his line passing his corner south seventy degrees east two hundred and twenty poles to Jas COCHRANs corner, thence with his line south twenty degrees west one hundred forty four poles and two thirds of a pole to a north corner to said James COCHRAN, thence with another line of said James COCHRAN south seventy degrees east one hundred forty four poles and two thirds of a pole to the beginning together with all and singular its appurtenances and improvements whatsoever to have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with its appurtenances unto him the said James BARTLETT his heirs and assigns forever and he the said Thomas PICKETT and Susannah his wife for themselves and their heirs executors &c doth covenant and agree to and with him the said James BARTLETT his heirs and assigns that they the said Thomas PICKETT and Susannah his wife their heirs &c unto him the said James BARTLETT his heirs and assigns the af’sd land and premises will warrant & forever defend against himself and his heirs and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming or pretending to claim the same. In testimony whereof they the said Thomas PICKETT [and] Susannah his wife have hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day and date before written.
Witnesses: Jefferson County Sct April 28th 1813 This day the within indenture was proved before me as Clerk of the County Court of said county by the oath of Tarlton GOOLABY a witness thereto.
Jefferson County Sct 4 August 1813 This day the within indenture was fully proven before me as Clerk of the County Court of said county by the oath of Daniel DAVIDSON another witness thereto, whereupon I have recorded the same in my office.
