TENNESSEE CONFEDERATE PENSION APPLICATIONS

Flag

The Tennessee State Library and Archives now has online a searchable index to the Confederate veterans and widows who applied for pension following the establishment of the Tennessee Board of Pension Examiners in 1891. One of the eligibility requirements was that the applicant had been a resident of the State of Tennessee for one year prior to applying, and the county shown is their place of residence at the time of application. It was not required that the veteran had actually served from state of Tennessee.

A description of what may be found in these applications is available at the TSLA Website, as well as information on ordering the Confederate Pension Applications by mail. Pension applications often contain a wealth of genealogical information. Following you will find the BARTLETTs listed.
