The Story Behind the Photo

Elisha BARTLETT, son of John BARTLETT and Sarah SELVEY, was born in WVA and moved to Delaware County, Indiana. He had a daughter named Minnie, who died within the first year of being married to a man named Hallie WOLVERTON. Hallie remarried and had children with his second wife. When his grandchildren were cleaning out the attic of his house, they came across two photo albums of pictures belonging to their grandfather’s first wife, Minnie. All of the pictures are BARTLETTs, it’s just a matter of determining who they are.

This photo was the only one taken in Grafton, WVA, where Elisha and his siblings were born. My guess is that it is a picture of an unknown sibling of Elisha who stayed in WVA when his parents moved (however unlikely), or a cousin of Elisha whom he was close to. If this is not a BARTLETT picture, it may be a SELVEY, as two BARTLETT siblings (John and Dorothy) married two SELVEY siblings (Sarah and Samuel IV).
