"Mama Brown", as she is known by her family, celebrated her 94th birthday this year (2000) in her home state of Georgia amidst a gathering of approximately 50 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members.

Flora Gertrude Bartlett, the daughter of Charles Daniel Bartlett, Sr. and Lovella Harlin and widow of Robert Newton Brown, was born in 1906 in Clayton County, GA. She is the granddaughter of Hayward Ruffin Bartlett and Sarah M. Wilson, and a descendant of William Bartlett and Anne Durant, early settlers in Perquimans County, NC.
