Charles Richard Henderson was born on February 7, 1876 in Wayne County, Illinois. Charles parents were Wiley and Sarah (Church) Henderson.Maggie Herdes was born on January 27, 1884 in Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois. She was one of three known children of Monroe and Sarah (Snyder) Herdes.

Charles died on October 8, 1958 in Clay City, Illinois and is buried in the Mt. Zion U.B. cemetery, Stanford Township, Illinois. His tombstone reads:
"Henderson, Charles R. - 1876-1958"
Charles' obituary read:
Charles Richard Henderson, the son of Wiley and Sarah Henderson, was born Feb. 7, 1876, in Wayne County, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Maggie Henderson, Dec. 2, 1903. To this union were born seven children, four of whom survive, two sons, Eugene and George Elmo of Clay City, and two daughters, Mae Dobbs of Cisne, and Blanche Staley of Fairfield.
He also leaves his wife, Maggie; one sister, Dora Trotter, Beardstown, Ill.; one brother, Francis M. Henderson of Clay City; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-granchildren.Maggie died on July 21, 1973 in Clay City, Illinois and is also buried in the Mt. Zion U.B. cemetery. Her gravemarker reads:
"Henderson, Maggie - 1884-1973"

SPECIAL NOTE
A lot of the information on the Henderson family comes to me in the form of a report prepared by April, a grand daughter of Eugene Henderson. She prepared the report for a school project when she was younger. The information provided in the report seems credable enough to warrant posting.
