Buried in the Jamestown Cemetery, Smith County, TX

William Lee farmed most if not all of his life. And times must have been hard for William and Rebecca. By the age of 60, William Lee's health was poor. On his application for Confederate Pension in 1908, William's response to the question, "What is your physical condition?", was "very feeble." The doctor's report in the same pension application was, "Has had a severe wound in foot that disables him from doing much work. Also rhumatism of lower extremities and has had rhumatism for a long time."

William Lee and Rebecca both died in Van Zandt County, Texas and are buried in the Union Chapel Cemetery which is a few miles east of Van, Texas in Smith County on Highway 110. Their gravemarker reads:

"William L. Taylor - Oct 7, 1844 - Sept 1, 1925
Rebecca - Jan 19, 1845 - Feb 18, 1924"

Old photo of William Lee and Rebecca with family????
Here's an old photo from a family collection that was just recently uncovered. We are almost certain that this is a family group photo of William Lee and Rebecca and many of their family members. Any help with identifying any one in this photo would be greatly appreciated.

Photo of Rebecca and seven of her children - probably taken around 1920 - 105 KB
(Photo provided by Orbie Welch)

Photo of William and Rebecca and four of their children - 45 KB

Sam Taylor reunion photo
One Taylor family member believes this is a group photo of a Taylor reunion held by Sam Taylor. If so, this is a photo of William and Rebecca's children at an older age with spouses. I believe that the third couple from the left are Cortney and Kate Taylor.
It is also believed that the second couple from the left are John and Madge (Taylor) Leonard.
If you can positivily identify any of these people, please let me know.

Photo # 1 - Aunt Madge Taylor with husband, John

Photo # 2 - Aunt Madge Taylor with husband, John and a young girl named Pauline ('Uncle Jim's daughter' is written on back)

Photo # 3 - Another photo of Aunt Madge Taylor with husband, John
