Biography
William J. "Bill" Fairbanks, age 63, of St. Augustine, FL, died on Nov. 12, 2009 at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Oakland, California and was a longtime resident of Bradford, Pennsylvania before moving to St. Augustine in 1992. Bill worked in Maintenance for Witco Chemical Corp. (Kendall) in Bradford for 29 years and for St. Joseph Academy High School for 9 years, retiring in 2008. Previously he served as an Officer with the Foster Township (PA) Police Department. He was formerly a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Bradford, and was a member of the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine, and was also a member of the Bradford Township Lions Club and St. Augustine Lions Club. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, and vacationing in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Fairbanks of St. Augustine, daughters, Tawny Milne of Derrick City, PA, Wendy Doty of Bradford, PA, Jody Jolly of Jamestown, N.Y, Leslie Costello of St. Augustine, FL, Laurie Wohl of Jacksonville, FL, half brothers, Anthony Magnetti and Raymond Magnetti, both of Bradford, PA, a sister, Karen Riley, Ocala, FL, grandchildren, Nicolas Hough, Rawny Hough, Seth Hough, Garrett Fairbanks, Kasandra Jolly Schwerk, Natasha Jolly, Jeffrey Jolly, Breeanna Jolly, Joshua Jolly, Thomas Costello III, Marisa Costello, Bryce Wohl, and step grandchildren, Kristie Doty Keltz, Saraya Milne, and Jessica Milne. He also had one great-granddaughter, Mariah Schwerk.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, at the Cathedral Basilica with Father Timothy Lindenfelser officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, 385 S.R. 207, with a vigil service at 6:30 pm. Interment services will be held at a later date in St. Bernard Cemetery in Bradford, Pa. Flowers are appreciated or donations in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army, Bradford, PA or to St. Gerard House, St. Augustine, FL.
