Death: ABT 1835 in South Bend, IN

Note: According to my family notes, there were two Matthew Wilson's, elder and son who came to US together with another son, named Henry. The elder Matthew was the "preacher of the Gospel," whose wife was known only as "Downing." Most trees only include one Matthew m. to Margarent Dowing, but sometimes leave a long gap inbetween generations as if there may have been two Matthews. According to the notes the elder Matthew and his wife were attacked by Indians and scalped while the two boys, Matthew and Henry, remained hidden under the house. Cannot verify the story, but it has been repeated by several different relatives.
