VANTINE, JAMES C., SR.; of Ortonville; February 5, 2009; at 96 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Madeline Vantine; dear father of Gwen (John) Robinson of Metamora, James C. (Nadine) Vantine, Jr. and Jerry Vantine both of Ortonville; also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Mr. Vantine owned and operated Vantine Farms. He was a member of the Ortonville Lions Club, Michigan Milk Producers Association Oakland County Farm Bureau, Ortonville Masonic Lodge #339 F & AM and Eastern Star where he was Past Worthy Patron. He was also a former member of the Land Bank Board, Ortonville School Board and Ortonville Cemetery Board. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2009 at Oakwood Community Church 5791 Oakwood Rd., Ortonville. Interment will follow at Ortonville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial at 5 p.m. Sunday at Coats Village Funeral Home, Sherman-Wilk Chapel, 135 South Street, Ortonville. Mrs. Vantine was a member and former Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ortonville Chapter, a member of the Oakwood Community Church, the Michigan Farm Bureau, the Michigan Milk Producers Association and the Ortonville Lions Club. Mrs. Vantine with her husband Jim, owned and operated the Vantine Farms of Ortonville and she retired as a surgical nurse from Wheelock Hospital in 1994. Surviving are husband James C. Vantine Sr.; daughter, Gwen (John) Robinson of Metamora; two sons, James C. (Nadine) Jr. of Ortonville and Jerry Vantine of Ortonville; also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
