A Will Contest.

Objection has been raised to the probate of the will of Francis Van Tine, late of the town of Brutus.

By the terms of the will $2,000 was left each of the three churches, the Methodist Episcopal church, the Presbyterian church and the Baptist church of Weedsport.

The objectors are Maggie Toumey, George VanTine, Emma VanTine, Ardilla Deverna, Fred VanTine, Charles Van Tine, Addie Westervelt, Elnora Strahley and Charles Brown.

After hearing the arguments, the surrogate entered an order that the case be tried before a jury at the next term of Supreme Court.

The Petition gives the value of the estate at $2,500 real estate and $15,000 personal.

Mrs. Mary J. Vantine, age 88, of La Porte, Ind., died 4:55 PM Monday, May 14, 2007, at Beverly LivingCenter-LaPorte in LaPorte, Ind. Mrs. Vantine was employed by Howmet Corp. and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She loved to play golf, she was an avid cake and wedding cake decorator, and she loved gardening, flowers, and helped everyone in need.

She was born June 8, 1918 in Johnson Twp. LaPorte Co., Ind. to the late Michael Garab and the late Theresa (Revers) Garab.

She is survived by her Two Sisters, Mrs. Theresa Morris of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Anna Smith of La Porte, Ind.; and a Niece Mrs. Rosalia Flanagan of Buchanan, Mich.

Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, May 18, 2007 at Pine Lake Cemetery. Funeral service will be at Pine Lake Cemetery at 11:00 AM Friday, May 18, 2007, Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.

Alexander Garrigue

News was received in New Rochelle last night of the death of Alexander Garrigue, a New York banker, at his country home at New Preston, Conn. Mr. Garrigue was 45 years old, and had a Winter home at 36 Clinton Place, New Rochelle. His son, Alexander Garrigue, Jr., is now in Switzerland studying the foreign banking business. Mr. Garrigue was a member of the New Rochelle Yacht Club, New Rochelle Republican Club, and a number of New York clubs. He leaves a wife and three children.
