EDGEWATER -- Harold E. Vantine, 75, of Casa Grande, who formerly owned Vantine's Portrait Studio, Portland, Maine, died Sunday at home.
Mr. Vantine, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Forest Hills, Mass., and moved here in 1981 from Freeport, Maine. He was a member of the Professional Photographers Association of America.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Josephine; two sons, Richard, Paris, France, and Ronald, Atlanta; two daughters, Susan Vantine, Edgewater, and Lynda Plaisted, York Beach, Maine; and eight grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32127. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Vantine, 84, of Edgewater, Fla., former co-owner of Vantine's Portrait Studio, Portland, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Bert Fish Medical Center. Mrs. Vantine was born in Cambridge, Mass., and moved to the area in 1981 from Freeport. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and enjoyed needlework and playing poker. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by two sons, Ret. Lt. Col. Richard Vantine of Holland, Fla., and Ronald W. Vantine of Minneapolis, Minn., two daughters, Susan M. Vantine of Edgewater, Fla., and Lynda A. Plaisted of York Beach; two brothers, James and Richard Haley, both of Edgewater, Fla., one sister, Loretta Farry of Boston, Mass.; eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral, Mr. Stevens
Funeral services for Charles E. Stevens, 88, 29 Fairfield ave., who passed away on Christmas morning at his home following a long illness, will be held this afternoon at 2 from the late home with Rev. Phillips Brooks Warner, rector of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Darien.
Mr. Stevens was one of the early settlers of Bell Island where he made his home for over 40 years. He was especially known for his originality in the construction of many white cobblestone walls on the island and around the DeKlyn estate at Pine Point. real estate was Mr. Stevens' last business interest before he retired in 1931.
In addition to one son, Charles F. Stevens; one daughter, Mrs. Addie F. Weed, both of this city; two brothers, Samuel Stevens of New Jersey and Arthur Stevens of Darien and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Bartram of Glenbrook. Mr. Stevens is survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
