From Judith Plummer's research report 23 May 1987.

"These deeds suggest land owndership by William Stevens and his wife, Hannah. The mortgage deeds to and from Smith Weed show that they were not well-to-do, yet that was a time period when even the poorest family would try to own at least a home and small amount of land. The neighbors are interesting, as is the Weed family name. I would have pursued that name a bit, but the two deeds to Hannah Stevens seemed to suggest family ties for her, so I thought I could short-cut. There is a birth to Darius Holly in the Barbour Collection of Vital Records -- born to Walter and Phalle Holly on 16 Aug 1797, Ridgefield VR 1:39. Also on record in Redgefield was the marriage of Walter Holly and Phalle Northrup on 5 Nov 1795 (1:89), and the birth of other children...."

       Marriage: 7 Dec 1835 - , Madeley, Staffordshire, England 1538,1540

Noted events in his life were:
• Research Note 114

Eugene Fisher notes refer to a letter from Arthur Healings
received 26 November1995, using information obtained from
records at Hereford Record Office, which stated that Richard was
illegitimate and took his mother's name 'Aylings' . This was
changed over the years until it became: 'Healings'. Had Richard
taken his father's name, all the Richard Healings' descendants
would have been Copes.

• Research Note

Richard Haylings On the householder chart ? British census
1851?, Richard was recorded as aged 50 and he and two of his
sons: William and Richard were ticked as being either
blind/deaf/dumb. It is more likely that they were deaf/dumb as
they worked as miners.

Daily Press (Newport News, VA) - November 20, 2008

Deceased Name: FRANCIS VAN TINE
Francis 'Van' Van Tine, Beloved Father, Grandfather, Father-in-Law passed away Oct. 6, 2008, - 93 years old, active until day of his death. Memorial service at 2 p.m., Nov. 22, at Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Peninsula, 415 Youngs Mill Lane, Newport News, 249-0215.

He lived with son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren in Newport News.

Born in Hoboken, N.J., in 1915, to ship captain's daughter and a longshoreman, he grew up in New York City. He had 6 brothers.

At 14, during Great Depression, he left school to work as page boy on Wall St. - Chase Manhattan Bank. Was sole support of his family.

He served in WWII - Army Tank Destroyers and tail-gunner in Army Air Corp.

After WWII, Francis married his sweetheart, poet, Evelyn Sylvia Haynes. He, worked for Bethlehem Steel as accountant, Federal Civil Service as Fiscal Officer, Fort Wadsworth and Camp Kilmer. His only child, Robin, born in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York City.

He moved his family to Merritt Is., Fla., in 1956 to work at Patrick AFB as comptroller until, at 45, risked all to become artist for the space program at Cape Canaveral, creating beautiful paintings of imagined future space missions, some displayed in Washington, D.C.

Francis was present for Mercury, Gemini, Apollo missions, witnessing America's leap into space. Some of his art even orbited Earth in a capsule, later presented to President Lyndon Johnson.

After Apollo program wound down, he became staff artist, Dept of Defense, Race Relations Inst.(now Equal Employment Opportunity Management Inst.)

He retired in 1982 and founded 16-piece 'Big Band', The Silvertones. All members had to have silver hair to join! Played banjo/guitar.

Upon beloved wife Evelyn's death, he joined his son, Robin's family, and led an active life in Newport News, participating in all family outings, including canoeing on Warwick River. He played banjo at convalescent homes, formed a trio, -- 'Three Men and a Tub' - banjo, piano, washtub bass. For many years, he and son together, entertained Bayside of Poquoson patients with 'Big Band' / 'Swing Music'. Often played billiards at Obelisk & Break- Away. Probably oldest 'shooter' on Peninsula.

He is survived by son, Robin, daughter-in-law, Lucy, his grandchildren Tristan, Ada and Skye van Tine.

He was a kind, warm, generous, gentle, humorous man - full of life and love right to the end. His family attributes his long-life, at least partially, to his positive attitude. He never uttered a negative word about any other human being - he was friendly and accepting to everyone he met. He will be terribly missed by all who loved him or knew him. Blessed Be!

Deceased Name: Poet, freelance writer Evelyn Van Tine dies By Sylvia Reyes
Florida Today

MERRITT ISLAND -- Evelyn Van Tine, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 26, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach.

Mrs. Van Tine was born in Rocky Hill, N.J. She came to Brevard County in 1956 from Staten Island, N.Y.

Mrs. Van Tine started writing to soldiers in Vietnam and decided to include a copy of a children's book that she wrote and illustrated. Later she received a letter from one of the soldiers, Tech. Sgt. Robert Brewer, in which he said how much it was appreciated by him and the local children in Saigon.
"The book is in sad condition, but they don't seem to mind" he wrote her. "I honestly believe your book is the only nice thing that has happened to these kids."

Mrs. Van Tine became a published poet and freelance writer. She liked to write about nature and ecology. Her thoughts were Florida inspired, so she called her work "Florida poetry." Her front yard was registered with the Backyard Wildlife Habitat program.

She won an Individual Artist Fellowship award for her literary endeavors, before having her book of poetry, In Love with Life, published. She was the runner up for Florida's Poet Laureate.
Mrs. Van Tine's work was published in various magazines and publications. She was the recipient of the Florida Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts awards.
She was past president of the Brevard Poetry club.
Survivors include her husband, Francis Van Tine of Merritt Island son, Robin Van Tine of Newport News, Va. sister, Marguerite Whitehead of Minnesota and three grandchildren.
No calling hours are scheduled. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cocoa. Wylie- Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
