Hi,

According to your web page:

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cyocom/vantine/f61.htm

My great, great grandfather, Rev. Orville Gould Wheeler; married your
William Seward Vantine & Hannah Hoag, if I read the outline correctly.
While this may be of small genealogical significance to either of us, your
page was the only result from my Google search for "Orville G. Wheeler".
This was a fun discovery and I have added it to my bookmarked pages.

If you think you may have any more information on Rev. Wheeler and you would
consider a brief search of your records, I would be very pleased and
grateful to hear from you.

Your wonderful and extensive web pages belie many hours at the keyboard, to
say nothing of the time spent researching the original data on your family
history. I am impressed and inspired!

Wyman Chamberlin Macomber Wounded in foot at Florence. Pension record states that while at Florence another soldier stepped over the dead line and was fired upon and wounded by a guard who also hit the applicant in the right ankle and foot. Paroled at North East Ferry, North Carolina, on 3/3/65. Reported College Green Barracks, Annapolis, Maryland, on 3/10/1865 and admitted to Division #1 General Hospital with scorbutus. Furloughed for 30 days on 3/16/1865. Described on the regimental rolls for March through July 1865 as absent paroled prisoner sick in Hosptial. Mustered out 8/25/65 or 9/11/65 at St. Paul, Minnesota. Living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 1870 Federal census. Submitted a pension application 11/4/1874 while living in Minneapolis. On the 1880 Federal census he is a farmer living in Independence, Minnesota. Listed on 1883 Hennepin County, Minnesota, Pensioners Roll as receiving $2.00 per month for g.s.w. right shoulder (or right foot) Drowned in Lake Champlain on 9/13/86. The Burlington Free Press headline reads Wesson [sic] Macomber supposed to have met a watery grave. His wrecked row boat was found washed ashore. This is incorrect as Wesson Macomber was Wyman's uncle and he died in 1892. The newspaper of 1/6/1887 informed readers that The funeral for Wyman Macomber, who drowned while crossing the late in a small boat, is to be held at the home of his widow next Sunday. Reported buried at Grand Isle, Vermont, but there is no death certificate or burial record recorded in Vermont for Wyman Macomber. In a Declaration for Widow's Pension dated 7/17/1890 Hannah G. Vantine Macomber states that her second husband Wyman died at Grand Isle, Sept. 13, 1886. Hannah G. Macomber granted a widow's pension from New York unknown date. Older brother of Lt. John H. Macomber of Co. C.
