General Notes (Husband)
The connection to both wives is extremely tentative.
1. We know this Johannis existed.
2. A Johannis married both of these women and lived with them in NYC.
3. This appears to be the only Johannis available, but there may be a line I am currently unaware of with a Johannis.

AMOUNTALLOWED.: 61 00• Research Note
I have a lot of doubt about this family. Mrs. Arlene Dupree of
Florida has worked on it extensively and we have NOT been able
to prove who James' father was. The main problem is that every
census we have for James (State and Federal) he lists his
birthplace as New Jersey.
Now a man ought to know where he was born and he certainly is consistant which would preclude a mistake by someone else. James also served in the War of 1812 and I have his scanty service record. Death Certificates for several of the children from New York State. Land Records of Tompkins Co, NY (look up) that list Charity as a Lewis Heir.• Researcher
