Christening Notes (Husband)

by Reverend G. W. Kaufman, Pastor

Death Notes (Husband)

"He ended his life as he as he lived - he always wanted to go
with his boots on. He had been breaking horses at the Hecker
Ranch in Ennis. He was riding a horse he considered to be
sufficient broke to be riden with a regular saddle. When he
climbed on, the horse reared and fell over backwards on top of
him. The saddle horn caused severe internal injuries and he
died on a small plane rushing him to a hospital in Bozeman"
Doctor Loosee wrote in his book, "I lost my first patient
the night I returned from taking my exam. Parham Hacker's horse
rolled on Erick Maybee. He was thirty-five years old, and the
weight of the upside down horse forced the pommel of the saddle
into his liver. He was dying in one of Otis Crooker's cabins,
with a systolic blood pressure of forty when I returned from
Helena that night. I remember frantically hand cranking my
grandfather's old centrifuge to seperate blood cels to
cross-match and transfuse. We got him as far as the rickety old
elevator in Bozeman Deaconess Hospital where he died on the way
to the operating room."

General Notes for Child Belva Maybee

Death from e-mail from Robin Linn, 5/3/99, with details:

Belva Louise Maybee Perry passed away quietly in her sleep on Apr.
22, 1999 surrounded by her husband and children. She was born on Jan.
5, 1934, in Butte, Montana, the second child of Eric and Rita Maybee.
Sister's Barbara Carter and Julia Bell and Brothers William Maybee and
John MayBee and half-sisters Delsa Daniels and Debra Larson and
half-brothers Duane Stark and Joseph Stark and numerous nieces and
nephews survive her. Her parents and stepfather Donald Stark all
preceded her in death. She was also greatly influenced by her
grandparents Julius and Harriet Millecam with whom she lived for several
years.

She graduated from Butte High School and attended Brigham Young
University. As a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints she served in the West Central State Mission.

Belva captured the attention and empowered the spirits of all who came
under her influence. An admired church leader, teacher, mother, foster
mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she lovingly left her mark on all
of us, leaving each and every one of us with sweet everlasting memories
to help fill the void we find in our lives without her. She is survived
by her husband of forty-three years, Robert L. Perry whom she met in
Seattle and they were married for eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple
and children Byron and Bret Perry of Everett, Bianca of Olympia, WA, and
Benita of Columbia City, OR and nine grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held in the Everett Stake Center 9509 19th
Ave. SE at 1 PM Tuesday Apr. 27th and friends may call prior to the
service starting at 10:30 AM.

her family history. Please mail them to: The Maybee Society c/o John
Maybee at 100 Clyde Lane Apt. 106, Dunedin, FL 34698-5909 or envelopes
will be available at the service.

Memorial from Jack Maybee

In 1987 an event occurred that has enriched all our lives--George Maybee
Martin and Belva Maybee Perry got together with a few others and gave
birth to the Maybee Society. George was our President until his death
in 1994. Since that initial beginning Belva Maybee Perry, our Executive
Secretary, has been the Maybee Society to most of us.

Her life and home has been devoted to puzzling out and tracing the many
Mabee, Mabie, Maby, Maybee, Van Orden etc. connections. She was ever
searching into all families and sharing her results with us all; she was
a sounding board for new ideas. It was a job of love and it certainly
made us all ever cognizant of her willingness -no- eagerness to share
this love. Her expertise in editing and publishing the 41 issues of the
'Communicator' was an extension of her great interest in all aspects of
the "Family".

It is with great sadness that we learned of her unexpected massive
stroke on April 7 and of her untimely death April 22. We will miss her
beautiful smile and her outstanding patience as she answered the many
questions we put to her. She was truly a much admired woman who made
the Maybee family with all its spellings come to life for all of us.
Belva Maybee Perry will be remembered and sorely missed by many people
and especially by all our members.

Our deepest sympathy goes to her husband, Bob, her children, Byron,
Bianca, Benita and Bret and their families and by her brothers and
sisters, Barbara, William, John and Mary(Judy) and their families.

Christening Notes for Child: Herbert Eric Maybee

by Reverend G. W. Kaufman, Pastor

Death Notes for Child: Herbert Eric Maybee

Hello, Carol

My name is Karin McArdle & I just came upon your site by accident. I research the family of Collins & Nancy (Stevens) McArdle. One of their children - Bessie - married John Vantine. I see from your information that Beth Boyston has been in contact - Bessie was her grandmother through her second husband. Mr. Vantine died of tuberculosis & Bessie remarried to George Cassody. Their son, Joe Ben Cassody, was Beth's father. So, Kenneth & Stella were Beth's half-uncle/aunt.

I have other information on Bessie & John's children - Kenneth & Stella - if you are interested. I know that Kenneth is buried in the Covington Community Cemetery in Covington, Garfield Co., OK; his sister, Stella, first married Mr. John Fortnay, who was a letter carrier in that area for many years (42 years). As a young man, John purchased the rural mail route from Collins Tint McArdle, Bessie's brother. Collins was the first rural mail carrier in that area - selling the route to John, his assistant, sometime around 1920-1923 when he & his family moved to Vinita, OK. Anyway, Stella divorced Mr. Fortnay - they didn't have any children. She then married a Mr. Ahsmus (sp??) & they had a family. Stella is also buried in Covington Cemetery, as is at least one infant child.
Bessie McArdle was one of 14 children of Collins & Nancy (Stevens) McArdle.

He was born in Virginia, but lived most of his early life in Vermilion Co, IL. He moved his family to Leavenworth Co, KS in 1866 -- which is where Bessie was born. Collins took part in the Cherokee Strip Land Rush - taking along several of his sons & daughters. He & a few of his children remained on his claim long enough for his patent to be completed, then sold his land & returned to Leavenworth (Tonganoxie area), Kansas where he died in1909. Among those who stayed in Oklahoma were Bessie [Vantine/Cassody], Jennie [Keltner], Virgil, Collins Tint, James Madison, and possibly, John Thomas. Bessie was the first telephone operator of Shaner's Corners, OK - which I believe was a little stop in the road in Garfield County.
I have LOTS more on the McArdles if you are interested. Thanks for the web site - I can now add so much to my own store of information. Take care,
Karin McArdle

Ms. Yocom - I just saw our gedcom which included Bessie McArdle.

My husband's grandfather was Collins T. McArdle, Bessie's brother -- Bessie
was one of 14 children born to Collins & Nancy (Stevens) McArdle who moved
from Vermilion Co, IL to Leavenworth Co, KS ca 1866.

Beth Boydston is Bessie's granddaughter via her second marriage to George
Cassody - in Oklahoma. The family moved to Garfield Co, OK sometime after
1895 where they still live. Kenneth & Stella & their half-brother, Joe, are
all buried there; Joe's widow lives in Enid, & is remarried. Beth (Joe's
dau) lives in OK as well.

If there is anything you might want or could share re: the McArdle family -
I'm more than happy to cooperate. I have all sorts of goodies about the
family up to and including information that Bessie's grandmother was Nancy
Morgan McArdle, great-granddaughter of Morgan Morgan, the first white
settler west of the Potomac in Virginia - a judge, a COL in the Virginia
militia, a member of the House of Burgess, and many many other FIRSTs. Her
grandfather was Zackquill Morgan, founder & proprietor of Morgantown, WV --
and so it goes.

Let me know -- Karin McArdle
