VANTINE -- Died in Windham May 28, 1951, Robert U. Vantine. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Davis funeral home 1 Lock at, on [sic] Thursday afternoon May 31 at two thirty o'clock. Interment in Edgewood cemetery. Friends are invited to attend.
Obituary
Robert U. Vantine
Robert U. Vantine, a life-long resident of this city, died suddenly at the summer residence of his brother-in-law at Cobbetts Pond, last night. He was born here, son of George E. and Annie R. (Morrison) Vantine on June 7, 1895.
Mr. Vantine was a veteran of World War I serving overseas for over two years. He was one of the first to go overseas from this area. He had been active up until the time of his death. For the past ten years Mr Vantine had been employed as a trainman on the Boston and Maine railroad. He had been employed at the Nashua Manufacturing company for 20 years previous to his work on the railroad.
He was a member of the First Baptist church of this city, the NE Association of RR Veterans and was a charter member of the American Legion James E. Coffey post.
The surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Margaret C. (Moulton) Vantine; one son, Robert Allen Vantine; one aunt, Mrs. Frances Vantine of Manchester; one brother, Donald E. Vantine of Lebanon, Penn; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends may call at the Davis funeral home on Memorial Day afternoon and evening from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9.

BIOGRAPHY: Thomas vance and his family came to Collin Co., Texas in 1845. The 1850 census, the only one in which Thomas is listed, gives his birth year as 1782 and that he was born in Kentucky. His wife was R - - Mount born 1794 in Maryland. Thomas was a carpenter.
In 1850, his son and his wife, Fountain and Pernina Vance, were living in the house with Thomas. In adjacent houses were Charles King Solomon Vance, John Vance and James Vance. James Vance married Mary E. (Polly) Beverly, the sister of Pernina. "King" Vance was killed near the end of the Civil War.
