I am looking for Eugene Van Tine who was born August 1852 in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He died October 12, 1929 in Port Chester, Westchester, New York and is buried in Rye, Westchester, New York. I have wife and 4 children for him, but no parents. His wife's name is Olive Louise Neild who was born in Little Britain, Orange, New York. If anyone knows Van Tine or Vantine family from that area I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Deb Rogers -- 11/12/2005 sent Family Album scans for this family and descendants.
Hello Carol: My name is Deborah Rogers and my
grandmother was Ruth Louise (VanTine) Tomczyk. I was
so excited to find your website on the VanTine family.
Before my grandmother passed away she gave me a rough
idea on who her family was. By looking at your site
you have been able to fill in a few of the blanks and
for that I am grateful as I did not know where to
start. I noticed that my great-grandparents where on
your tree and I wanted to fill in some of the blanks
on them and also my grandmother and my great uncle who
info is missing from your tree.
1. Ralph Eugene VanTine your #338 date of death is
11/12/1982.
2. His Wife Edna Mae (Vail) VanTine your #5869 date of
death is 10/21/1976 and she was born in Poughkeepsie,
NY.
3. My Grandmother was Ruth Louise (VanTine) Tomczyk
born 4/4/1920 in Portchester, NY Died 12/17/2001 in
Greenwich, CT. She was married 10/7/1945 to Frank
Joseph Tomczyk born 3/7/1916 in Greenwich, CT died
3/13/2002 in Greenwich, CT.
3. My uncle Ralph Eugene VanTine, Jr. is still alive
and if you would like I can send you his information
as well?
4. Also I have a few pictures and Obituaries that I
could scan and send if you would like?
5. Also I know that Mildred (VanTine)# 5868 married
Ralph Weeks?
6. I guess now all I need is the living family of
Eugene and Olive VanTine. I know that George and
Bertha VanTine had George, Jr.#6963 and Ronald and
Herbert and Georgiana and they have children. Would
you have their info seperate?
Please let me know Thanks

Hi Carol,
I am the Family History Consultant for my Ward in Farr West Stake and I have been taking classes up at the Ogden Family History Center since June of 2000. I have taught myself how to do research on the Internet and when I need information I go to Ancestry.com and look at their articles. I have learned so much from just searching out answers on the Internet. I now serve at the Ogden Family History Center on Wednesday Afternoons. I also take speaking assignments, where I take 2 people's pedigree sheets to research 2 to 4 weeks before I speak. I try to show the group just what can be accomplished using the Ogden Family History Center and the Internet. I have learned a lot from doing that.
When did you work for Ancestry? We now have their paid database at the Ogden Family History Center for our Patrons to use free. I have had it in my home for over 3 years and I use it almost daily.
One of the things I found out about the last child listed for Eugene Van Tine and Fanny Amelia Selover is that he was really born to Olive Louise Nield (or Neild as the Wills and Probate records show). Lucille Randolph thinks that Olive may have worked as a housekeeper or nanny to Eugene & Fanny and had an affair with Eugene. But, Lucille says there is no proof of that. But there are several interesting things she has told me. I will try to put all her ideas and research into the notes as I work. When I am through I will send you a copy of the data as a GEDCOM or Word Document. I will try and find more sources to verify or correct the information you gave me. I appreciate finding you have sources. I have not always been good about doing that for every single family. I need to work harder in that area.
Do you know who Albert Van Tine's father was? Do you have any ancestors beyond that for Eugene Van Tine? I would be happy to know anything about those families. I will try and go through you Web Site and see what I can find. I always find this fun. Thanks again for all your help.
Kind Regards,
Lola Stevens

Lola,
Hi. I live in Salt Lake but haven't been to the library in a couple of years. As a matter of fact, the last time was when the tornado went over the top!
I have doubts about the info I gave you and how accurate it is, but I quoted my sources so you can judge for yourself. All the Vantines I know of are related. You can see my homepage at
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cyocom/
It hasn't been updated in ages. I keep saying I'm going to do it and don't. Most of the new info I have is on other lines tho. But please let me know what you find. I keep all the info, I just don't get it into the webpage.
Holy Cow! You know I wrote that article. I worked at Ancestry then! That was years ago. You certainly gave me a shock.
