         Mother: Katherine Ruttger (1883-1948) 147

       Marriage: 9 Jan 1943 - , Floral Park, Nassau, New York 1801

Noted events in his life were:

Dad served in WWII and 35 years working for the Long Island Rail Road as wreckmaster responsible for all train derailments and master car inspector.

• Researcher

Anyway, my immediate ancestors are:
My father, James Arthur Van Tine was born November 27 1916 (actual birth certificate says January 1917) in Jamaica, Queens, NY (not in a hospital). Married 1/9/43 to Dorothy (maiden name Russell) born April 1921. Two children Russell James Van Tine (me) born June 14 1949 and my sister Virginia (married name Hart) born May 15, 1946. Dad served in WWII and spent 35 years working for the Long Island Rail Road as wreckmaster responsible for all train derailments and master car inspector. Retired to Holiday, FL and died March 27,1988. Dad's mother's (my grandmother) maiden name was Katherine Ruttger who died in the 1940's. I do not have his father's (my grandfather) name as he left home in the 1930's

The few brother/sister names I know of (all passed away) are:
Emory Van Tine married a Florence (unknown maiden name) and had a son Richard born 1949
Ida Van Tine married Joe Reusch and had one daughter Joyce. Joyce married Ken Underhill.
May Van Tine married Frank Reiner and had three children (Janet, Frank and Roberta).
Laura Van Tine married Fred Deikman(spelling?). No children.
Fred Van Tine (unknown info)
Madeline Van Tine (twin -oldest) ..... I am trying to get more info here.
male twin (unknown name) left home never heard from again.
Sally Van Tine married (?) who died and re-married Bob (?) Two sons George (died) married Janette and son Jimmy moved to California.

I believe the previous generation included a John Van Tine who owned the Van Tine hotel in Fair Haven, NJ from 1863 to the 1880's.

But I have a big gap that I have been unable to fill.

If any of these names sound familiar or you can fill in any of the blanks it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Russ Van Tine
