Hi Carol
Thank you for getting back to me
I believe your Katherine and Ralph are the same as my Katherine and Ralph.
Katherine Abel was married before to Claude Rigdon about 1899, he died in 24 Jul 1911 in Telliride Colorado, they had a daughter Kathryne born about 1900.
I wounder if maybe the daughter married the step uncle?
I know that Katherine died 1964 in Orange New Jersey and I did find the divorce information, I did find the birth and death date for Ralph in the S.S. index but wasn't sure
it was the same person.
There is another cousin working on the Abel family the website you sent me is an old one. of his. He has a new sit www.re-chambers.info/ his name is Ron Chambers.
If you would like I can give him you e-mail. He's a better researcher then I am.
Ron also has the name's Frances, Albert and Chester listed for Katherine Vanline's children I just have Frances.
My husband would have been a Great nephew to Katherine his Grand Mother was Laura Abel she married Adam Baumgard. and her other sister Irene married August Baumgard,
Ron is there Grand son .
So if you went more information on the Abel side let me know. There were a total of 10 children in the family.
Thanks again and Happy New Year
Good luck on you research and hope to hear back from you.

Subject: Newton Adams, M.D./Adams College, S. Africa image
A researcher is trying to locate an image of Newton Adams (1804-1851), an American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) missionary to South Africa. Newton Adams is considered the founder of Adams College, founded ca. 1853. According to the researcher, the college closed in 1956 and the building was sold to the government, with the provision that the name Adams College could not be used. The college was revived in the last few years as Adams College, following the change in government.
Newton Adams, M.D was born in East Bloomfield, N.Y. and NA married Sarah Carpenter VanTine Nov. 2, 1834; they embarked from Boston Dec. 3, 1834 and arrived in Cape Town Feb. 5, 1835. They visited Dingaan Jan. 17, 1836 and arrived in Port Natal May 21, 1836, where they started a missionary station. The mission broke up in Feb. 1838 and the Adams returned to Port Natal in June 12, 1839. Newton Adams was ordained in Cape Town Dec. 10, 1844 and died at Umlazi, South Africa Dec. 16, 1851, where he and Sarah maintained a missionary station.
Sarah Carpenter VanTine was born in Pittsfield, N.Y. April 2, 1802. Following NA's death, she remained in South Africa until 1855, when she returned to the U.S. due to ill health. She died in Cleveland, Ohio Nov. 1, 1870.
Any and all help is appreciated! The researcher was hoping for a photograph, but knows that it is a little early in the 19th century for that. I already checked with Houghton Library, Harvard Univ., as they hold the bulk of the ABCFM records. If you have an image of Newton Adams, please email me, along with the cost and process for requesting a duplicate and I will pass the information on to the researcher.
Thanks in advance,
