This is odd. The first ennumeration had an Esther Vantine, age 87, b. New Jersey, which I finally decided had to be Eve Vantine, widow of Jacob. But this second enumeration shows that the family she was living with was related to the Dutchess Vantines.

It is reported that Ald. Booles and Councilman Van Tine made an effort to get up a celebration to commemorate the eclipse of Wednesday last. We are happy to state there is not truth in the report. These gentlemen are reserving themselves for the visit of the Prince of Wales, and in hi honor they are already engineering a little appropriation of $50,000.

The merchants of New York have taken the reception of the Prince of Wales in their own hands. They mean to give the Prince a public dinner. This will shut out the corporate authorities, save the pockets of the taxpayers, and prevent the Booles and Van Tines from making us ridiculous before the Prince and the world. A committee, consisting of Wm. B. Astor, Ex-Gov. John A. King, Ex-Gov. Hamilton Fish, Wm. H. Havemeyer, Robert B. Minturn, Wilson G. Hunt and Robert Kennedy was appointed to wait upon the Prince in Canada, and tender him the invitation.
