LEO BRUCE VAN TINE
June 18, 1936 to April 20, 2006

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leo Bruce Van Tine.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Peggy; son Leo Kim Van Tine (Melita) of Lac Le Jeune; daughter Cindy (Art) Sommer of Armstrong; precious granddaughters Jenna, Shayna and Kristina Van Tine; brothers Billy, Jim, George and Doug; sister Eleanor; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was predeceased by; brothers Buster, Charles and Merle and sisters Ruth, Florence and Margaret.

Leo was born in Burns Lake, BC, and lived his younger years at Ootsa Lake, BC, where his father was a Hunting and Fishing Guide and Trapper, instilling his love of the outdoors.

Leo joined the BC Fish & Wildlife Branch in 1963. He served 33 years in many parts of BC, Alexis Creek, Nanaimo, 100 Mile House and then as a Conservation Officer in charge of Region 5 out of Kamloops. He also spent many years as an Auxiliary RCMP member. Leo was very dedicated to his career as a Conservation Officer and preserving the outdoor way of life.

Leo joined the Masonic Lodge in 1960 and went on to obtain his 33rd degree. In 1972 he was installed as a Shriner. He is a Past President of Kamloops Shrine Club #6 and was presented with his Lifetime Membership. He enjoyed working with the Shrine because of their exceptional work with crippled and disabled children.

Through his career and affiliation with both the Masonic and Shrine organizations he has made many friends throughout the province which he truly cherished.

He will be sadly missed by all.

Our family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, for Leo's care and a very special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Ashcroft Hospital for their compassionate care far above and beyond the call of duty.

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral, 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Shriners Patient Transportation Fund, c/o Gizeh Shriners of British Columbia & Yukon, 3550 Wayburne Drive, Burnaby, BC, V5G 3K9.

Service arrangements are entrusted to Justin Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services (Kamloops) 1-866-664-9646
