Allen "Slim" H Vantine, 71, Massena. Funeral services for Allen "Slim" H Vantine, 71, of 266 Prospect Ave. Massena, will be held Thursday March 15, 2007 at the Church of the Sacred Heart at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Kevin D. McEwan presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.

Mr. Vantine died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Massena; five daughters and two sons, Miss. Jennifer Vantine of Massena, Mrs. David (Kathleen ) Warner of Colorado Springs, CO, Charles A. Vantine of Cleveland, OH, Mrs. George (Margaret) Wilkins of Massena, Nancy E. Grinstead of Massena, Mrs. Jay (Patricia) Scott of Clay, and James C. Vantine of Cleveland, OH; ten grandchildren, Patrick J. and Emily J. Wilkins, Ian J., Sara I. and Adam E. Scott, Anna M., Gwen E. and John R. Grinstead, and Ryan D. and James C. Warner.

He was born April 12, 1935 in Burlington, VT, the son of Harvey and Rena (Boyce)Vantine. He graduated from Massena High School. He was married to Jane Collins on February 16, 1957 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Cornelius Collins presiding, uncle to the bride. He was employed at Northern Flooring and later at Schwartz's Furniture Store as a carpet installer. He retired from Sacred Heart Church as a custodian. He volunteered as parade coordinator for the Labor Day Parade senus inception until a few years ago. He enjoyed woodworking, having made many gifts for his family.

Arrangements are with the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
