NORMAN FRANK VANTINE
ETNA, NY - Norman Frank Vantine, age 58, of Wood Road, Etna, NY, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Hospicare unit of Lakeside Nursing Home in Ithaca, NY after a battle with renal cell cancer. "Frank" was born August 10, 1946, Ithaca, NY, the older son of Norman G. and Barbara Shaw Vantine. He was married on August 1, 1970 to the former Donna Stewart in Wheeling, IL. Frank retired from Axiom IPB, Inc. when the company closed August 1, 2003. He was a member of the Dryden Baptist Church, a life member of the Etna Fire Department, and a supporting member of the Varna Volunteer Fire Company. Frank served in the US Air Force as a Fire Fighting Specialist from 1969 to 1973, including a tour of duty in the Panama Canal Zone.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Donna Vantine of Etna; his parents, Norman and Barbara Vantine; his sons, Robert G. Vantine and Scott R. Vantine, all of Etna; his siblings, Robert E. (Terry) Vantine of Freeville and Roberta J. Dawson of Binghamton, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services to be held at the Dryden Baptist Church will be announced. Rev. Brian Humphreys will officiate. Burial will be private; there are no calling hours. NORMAN G. VANTINE
FORMERLY OF ETNA, NY - Norman G. Vantine, age 83, formerly of Etna, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Northwoods of Cortland. Born April 15, 1925 in Auburn, NY, he was the son of the late Ralph G. and Isabelle Patchen Vantine. He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Vantine, whom he married November 9, 1944; his daughter, Roberta J. Dawson; son, Robert E. (Terri) Vantine; daughter-in-law, Donna S. Vantine; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, N. Frank Vantine.
He worked for the Navy in Auburn, NY, at the American Locomotive and then returned to Ithaca, NY, to work at Therm, Inc. He retired, after 27 years at Cornell University, as head of the machine shop. Norman was a charter member of the Etna Fire Dept., member of the Dryden Baptist Church and Dryden Senior Citizens.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Peruville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dryden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 388, Dryden, NY 13053; or to the Etna Fire Dept., P.O. Box 300, Etna, NY 13062. Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. STERLING - Funeral for Odis Cullen Vantine, 89, Sterling, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sterling First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Powell, pastor, Sterling First Assembly of God, and the Rev. Rick Rogers, pastor, Sterling First Baptist Church, officiating.

Mr. Vantine died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at a local care center.

Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher.

He was born July 2, 1913, in Dexter, Grayson County, Texas, to John Quincy and Emma Joceiphine Belyeu Vantine. He grew up in Seminole and Cotton County. He married Ruby May Winton on June 11, 1938, in Temple. She died Feb. 26, 2002. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for Comanche County, retiring in 1978. He had been a resident of Sterling since 1958.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: John and Regina Vantine, Fletcher; Gene and Diane Vantine, Elgin; James Vantine, Sterling; and Ronald and Donna Vantine, Carney; four daughters and three sons-in- law: Jo and Bill Franklin, Hulen; Cora and John Roach, Fletcher; Mary Vantine, Elgin; and Ruby Ann and Leland Brown, Clayton; 24 grandchildren: Karen Thomas, Suzanne Max, Maria Alexander, Donna Baxter, Rhonda McCants, Billy Franklin, Sheila Popp, Steven Roach, Sherri Adams, Paul Vantine, Scott Vantine, Jimmie Vantine, Karla Vantine, David Vantine, Matthew Vantine, Laura Stepp, Chad Brown, Bobbie Rezac, Dona Simpson, Ronnie Vantine, Jennifer Leonard, Heather Conkling, Craig Wensler, and Jeffrey Wensler; 36 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Era Vantine, Duncan; and Jessie Vantine, Walters; a cousin, Elsie Wilkes, Walters; and a lifetime friend, Ida Spinks, Burkburnett, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant sister, Bessie Mae; two brothers: Boyd Vantine and Sam Vantine; a great- granddaughter, Dianne Michelle Vantine; and twin great-grandsons, Casey Ryan and Jase Brian Spriggs.
