• 1870 Census 2nd Enumeration, 7 Jan 1870 - District 18, New York, New York, New York

This is odd. The first ennumeration had an Esther Vantine, age 87, b. New Jersey, which I finally decided had to be Eve Vantine, widow of Jacob. But this second enumeration shows that the family she was living with was related to the Dutchess Vantines.

From: SPosey1016@aol.com

Dearest Carol,
My name is Carol Posey. I am a descendant of David Ayles. My brother Stephan Gunn has done some extensive work on the family history and the information I have on David Ayles is as follows. Born in 1760 in USA, possibly in Virginia, was of Welsh descent, and died 1849 in Aurelius, Washington County, OH. He married Susan Burage, daughter of Edward Burrage
and Tomilson. There may have been two other children; Elias - who married Mary Walker 20 April 1814, and Louisa - who married John Hall 05 May 1818.
Children of David Ayles and Susan Burage are:
i. Hanna Ayles, b. 1798; d. 1851
ii. Payton Ayles, b. May 23, 1807, possibly Washington County, OH; d.
1848, Leesburg, IN.

This is the first time I have ever gotten online to look anyone up and by coincidence I typed in the first name listed in our family history records and came up with your entry. If this helps at all or if you would like to inquire about other listings about the Ayles just let me know. My mother's Grandmother was Lilla Jackson (Harris). Lilla was the daughter of Miriam Ayles (4th generation) and James Jackson.
Sincere regards,
Carol Posey

I had Susan born 1801 which would be after her children. Obviously an error. Don't know where that came from. Probably got confused between her and Susan Carmichel.

General Notes (Husband)

>Name note: Connection to father is certainly not proved

KITGEO47 Potter, Dr. Marguerite: Dr. Potter left notes regarding the Kitts family when she died. They were in very rough form and not well organized. Most of the sources were in her memory and not written down. She knew a lot from her own knowledge or from what she was told as a girl. Tippett, Mrs. JM (Grace): Dr. Potter's sister organized and added to the Kitts papers.

Deceased Blatz, Mrs. Margaret: Mrs. Blatz is a descendant of the Kitts line through George Clark Kitts, son of George Kitts. She is a very careful and thorough researcher and gave me most of the information on the Kitts family.
