Note:
BIRTH: William and Nancy were twins.

BIOGRAPHY: William Beverly had four slaves.
BIOGRAPHY: Notes for WILLIAM BEVERLY:
The Beverlys and Vances all moved into the Peters Colony (Collin Co. Texas) from Jersey Co. Illinois. The Beverlys lost several sons in the Civil War and at least one widow married a Vance.

William Beverly was born on 28 Nov 1806 at Jefferson, Tennessee. He married Nancy Delozier on 24 May 1828 at Roane, Tennessee, USA; License issued 28 April 1828 by William Crow, bondsman. Marriage solemnized 24 May 1828 by James Mitchell, M. G. , He married Rebecca Crownover on 9 Apr 1853 at Plano, Collin, Texas. He died on 20 May 1895 at Plano, Collin, Texas, at age 88. He was buried on 20 May 1895 at Old Plano Cemetery, Plano, Collin, Texas; Buried in Old Plano Cemetery, north side.

In January, 1880, William Beverly wrote the following:
<blockquote>"My father, John Beverly, was born in Virginia in 1743 and died August 23, 1829. He was a captain in the Revolutionary War...My son, John Beverly, was born in Roane County, Tennessee on July 6, 1829, and came to Texas with me." William Beverly was born in Virginia (not accurate information). His twin sister was named Nancy and married Joseph Klepper, who had a land grant from Peter's Colony.

William married Nancy DeLozier (b. March 10, 1806) on 24 May 1828 in Roane Co. TN. They had children born in TN, AL, and IL. They left Jersey Co., IL and came to TX in 1846, receiving a land grant from Peter's Colony of 640 acres west of Plano.

William and Nancy Beverly had nine children, seven boys and two girls. Five of their boys were killed in 1864 as they fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Namely: Tommy (their youngest son) b. April 27, 1845-d. January 23, 1864; C. Columbus b. August 14, 1836--d. May 14, 1864; Andrew b. March 9, 1842-d May 20, 1864; Guilford b. Feb 12, 1838--d. June 7, 1864; Allen b. March 9, 1842 d. (?)

Sorrow and saddness reigned over the Beverly household and community each time a message arrived. Twice word came from returning soldiers who had known two of their sons on the battlefield.

The Beverlys had two sons left, John, who became a Methodist minister, and James, who followed his father as a farmer. Each of them had a half section, a land grant from Peter's Colony. There were two daughters. Mary, who married James Vance, and Pernina, who married Fountain Vance.

Each Vance owned a half section east of the Beverlys. Thus, William Beverly and his sister, Nancy Klepper and his two daughters and a son James each owned one half sections of land near by. His minister son, John, lived about two miles north and within a mile or more of John Russell, his father-in-law. John had a land-grant from Peter's Colony.</blockquote>
