Emmaletta had 3 husbands: Jack Spruill, Jack Bradley, and Benjamin Biggs. Jack Bradley jumped off of a bridge in Spokane and was never found. Benjamin Biggs was her last husband. Jack Spruill is in a photo with her (that is the source of the name).
I still haven't found anything about Margaret or Beatrice Vantine. If I could find someone who could do a title search in LA county, I might be able to find their married names. I would be willing to pay of course, if you know of anyone.

Subject: Vantine Photos
I have scanned a few old photos and will attach them to this message. One is Herbert Vantine, one is Herbert and Ida Serena, another is Edith. On the other one, Ida and Edith as girls, and one of Ada Birch's mother, Margaret Stump(f) Birch.
I also found a photo of a lady named Grace Vantine. I remember visiting her and her husband Gil (Gilbert?) vantine on their farm in Plum Twp. My grandmother said Gil was her cousin. That would mean he was the son of one of James's brothers, I guess. I cannot find a Gil or Gilbert in any census.
I noted on your family tree that you do not have James Vantine's date of death as 1932, or Ada's as 1936. Those are the dates on their gravestone.
I also note that you misspelled Ida Serena's middle name. It definitely is Serena.
When I go to Pa this summer, I will take photos at the cemetery and forward to you. Researcher, Dot Willis

I spent some time today reviewing the portion of your family tree on Rootsweb as pertaining to James Vantine and Ada Birch and their offspring. You list their burial place as Leechburg, Armstrong Co. They are in fact buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West Leechburg, which is in Westmoreland Co (across river from Leechburg, river divides the counties). Their years of death on gravestone are James 1932, Ada 1936. David Vantine is buried in the same cemetery plot, as is James and Ada's child Charles. One of the children listed under James and Ada is Ida. Correct spelling of her middle name is Serena, b 1/16/1892, d 1/23/1981. Her husband, James Foster Wylie, b. 885, d.6/9/1952. Correct spelling of their daughter's name is Dorothy Irene Wylie, b 2/5/1910, d 1/8/1980. They also had a son (my father) Clair Finley Wylie b 9/13/1912, d 5/12/1975. Note that he had his grandfather's middle name. You can find them in 1920 census for Westmoreland Co, Allegheny Twp. All persons mentioned above are buried in West Leechburg also. Under James and Ada Vantine's daughter Edith, who married Samuel Jones, you listed Martin, correct spelling Marlin for their son. They had 3 daughters, Marie, Martha and Elsie. On 1930 census Marlin is listed with James and Ada as grandson living with them. If you have any questions about any of this, please ask. I checked out the Westmoreland website you mentioned, but couldn't find any marriage or real estate records for any Vantines or Wylies in my immediate family. I know they owned homes in Westmoreland Co., Allegheny Twp.-- I grew up there! 1900 Soundex, 1900 - Leechburg, Allegheny Twp, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania

Per correspondence with Erma Amore (Prev. married name Thorne)
as of 16 June 1987:
The family lives in White Lake.
1850, 1860, 1900 Censuses of Michigan. Because Jacob is right next door to Albert Vantine in the 1850 census of Genesee Co, MI, I have tentatively placed
Jacob as Albert's brother.
In the "Portrait and Biographical Album of Oakland County, Michigan (Chapman Bros, Chicago, 1891: LDS library 977.438/D3c), James Vantine tells his history,
including the fact that his father's name was Albert and mother Betsy Uptograf, and his grandfather Mathew "of Holland descent." He also says his father fought in the War of 1812 and his grandfather in the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately I have been unable to substantiate the Rev. Service of Matthias Fonteyn/Vantine.

Correspondence with Don E. Vantine, : He sent pictures of the tombstones of Jacob and Loretta. Loretta's stone says "Loretta Dewey consort of J. Vantine".
