Married Son-in-Law's Mother

A romantic marriage that has caused unusual interest among the townspeople of Somerville, is that of C. S. Van Buskirk, aged 81 years, and Mrs. Antoinette Benbrook, aged 76. The aged bride resided until recently with her son, Frederick Benbrook. The groom was a widower, of Plainfield. A few years ago Frederick Benbrook married a daughter of Van Buskirk and the preparations for the wedding of the young people brought the aged couple together. The relatives have sternly opposed their marriage, but they decided to wait no longer, and on Saturday were wedded by Rev. W. S. Crammer.

• Research Note

Jacques' family split with Maria and Charles going to Cayuga County while Thomas stayed in Adams County until about 1815, then moved to Westmoreland County, PA. Charles bought land in Cayuga using the name Funtine--and the land was later sold by his sons using the name Vantine. Larry Vantine Jr. wrote me that Matthias (a cousin) also signed for his land in Cayuga as Msr. Fonteyn, but I have not seen this transaction myself.

Another correspondent, James Vantine, told me that he saw that John Vantine was one of the earliest land owners in Adams County, PA, but could not tell me the book and I have not been
able to find that reference myself.

NJ Archives (need vol and page) for the will of Thomas Bouman, provide the POSSIBLE last name for Neeltje.
