Ann M. and Sarah A. are not listed in Ann E.'s widows pension. At least Sarah would have been under age 16 in 1864. Possibly they married very early, since I notice that Deed book 16:170, Darien, CT FHL 1434209 lists Sarah A. Morton and Harriet A. Stevens as witnesses to the warranty deed between Andrew J. Butter and Ann E. Buttery ($1.00 and other valuable consideration) for the land that Ann owned by Stoney Brook. (Dated 12 Feb 1898.) Ann has a life lease in the property but she died just a few months later.

US Federal Archives: Military Records, Civil War. John Buttery (Buttry) volunteered 28 Aug 1862 as Private in Captain C.A. Hobbie's Co "B" of the 17th Reg of Infantry CT. Born in Wilton, CT, aged 41 years, 5'5 1/2" high, light complexion, grey eyes, dark hair and by occupation a shoemaker. Died in US Genl Hosp Annapolis, MD, he was married, and he resided in Darien. Captured at St. Johns River, May 19, 1864 or Walaka, Florida. Died of Chronic Diarrhea. Wife not named, but one mention of heirs, not named to receive money due him.
